The 9th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) is a volunteer-run and not-for-profit environment-themed film festival organized by local grassroots environmental organization, EcoKnights. In the last eight years, the Festival has reached out to more than 90,000 Malaysians through its free film screening, roadshows, collaboration with other partners, and engaging programs such as workshops, talks and lectures, and exhibition. Throughout its course, the KLEFF has supported and promoted local and international NGOs in their conservation and environmental efforts to more Malaysians. The KLEFF’s aim is to create and maintain a platform in which environmentalist, the public, government agencies, and corporate players can converge and share and communicate with each other to address solutions for pressing environmental issues. UNDP-BSEEP IS LOOKING FOR THE NEXT WINNING ANIMATION ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUILDINGS

In collaboration between EcoKnights with United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR), we are proudly to introduce new award for the upcoming 9th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF 2016), the UNDP-JKR Energy Efficiency in Building. This special award is about the efficiency in energy consumption in the building and can be submitted in two categories: Animation and Public Service Announcement (PSA) only. For this award, the winner will receive RM3, 000 cash price grand prize, a trophy, hamper and certificate. - See more here.

KLEFF TO MEASURE ITS ENERGY USAGE THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVAL WITH RENEON TECHNOLOGIES

We are excited to share that KLEFF organizer, EcoKnights, together with its Technology Partner, Reneon Technologies will be helping the Festival measure its energy usage at the key areas of the festival such as the Black Box and the Boulevard where the Green Market will be held. Using IVIS, Reneon’s energy monitoring system, it will allow the Festival to view and capture real-time electricity consumption based upon data collected from an array of wireless sensors installed at Publika. SHOW CASE YOUR GREEN EFFORT AT KLEFF – APPLY TO BE A GREEN VENDOR/EXHIBITOR OR WORKSHOP OPERATOR AT THE GREEN MARKET

The KLEFF is a volunteer run environment-themed annual film festival initiated in 2008. Throughout its course it supported and promoted a variety of environment-themed exhibition, a green marketplace (Green Market), and performing arts. It has also hosted a wide variety of open-to-public workshops, such as workshops on green technology, upcycled arts and craft for children, urban farming and permaculture, career development and more. Our aim is to create and maintain an interactive relationship between the artists and the workshops’ participants and to provide the artists with a forum to communicate their work and share their creativity. Now, for the 9th consecutive year, we invite NGOs, social enterprises, corporate organizations, technology companies and arts organizations to participate and be part of the KLEFF movement by checking out the application guidelines, and submit your application today.

For three days, October 14-16, 2016, the Festival welcomes film enthusiasts and supporters of environmental movements from around the world to celebrate the best of environmental films. We need an amazing team of volunteers to make the Festival a memorable and remarkable experience for all. The Festival aspires to encourage Malaysians from all walks of life to take positive steps towards a better environment through the wide range of activities, and film screenings organized. ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL KUALA LUMPUR ECO FILM FESTIVAL

Now in its 9th year, the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival, produced by environmental NGO, EcoKnights features environment-themed documentary, feature, animated, archival, and experimental and children's films from around the world. KLEFF showcases ground breaking films, traversing the relationship between humans and their environments, challenging the way people think about the natural world and inspiring them to discuss, explore and act on important environmental issues. The films will be shown at various venues around Kuala Lumpur, including art spaces, cafes, universities, high schools, corporate officers and community theatres. Filmmakers and special guests will discuss their work at the festival. Most screenings are free to the public and include discussion with filmmakers or scientists on emerging environmental concerns and issues.

The Festival’s signature programs include the Green Market, Film Making Workshops, the KLEFF Awards Night, Green Vibes and more. The Festival hosts a number of juried cash awards, as well as audience awards.
