Things are getting quite busy preparing for this year’s KLEFF and there are plenty of updates to share!
As a reminder, the 7th Annual KLEFF will be held at MAP Publika from October 17th – 19th 2014. For more information, log on to www.ecofilmfest.my.
As October nears, there are copious logistics to work out in preparing for the event weekend. In addition to our usual activities like community screenings, we’re now fully entrenched in planning the festival itself. As such, there are a lot of opportunities to get involved and contribute to a good cause!

DiGi WWWOW Awards
The DiGi WWWOW Awards prides itself as a platform to showcase innovative ideas that demonstrate the power of the Internet for communities throughout Malaysia. This year the 2014 KLEFF has decided to join the action and compete!
The DiGi WWWOW Award’s objective is to, “…recognise people… who are idea generators for Internet greatness, filling the web with high-potential business ventures, powerful people-centric content, (and) community-based creativity…” As an ongoing and annual event, we here at KLEFF feel that we meet that description and are eager to show Malaysia what we have to offer!

2014 Sentinels of Time Photography Competition
Besides the Annual KLEFF, Festival organizers, EcoKnights, provides many other great opportunities for people to get involved with their communities and their environment. That’s why the 2014 KLEFF team is pleased to support another wonderful program, the Sentinels of Time Photography Competition.
This year’s competition is focused on “Urban Nature”; those beautiful and sometimes rare occasions where the modern and natural worlds live in harmony with one another. Anyone can apply, so long as the photo submitted shows Urban Nature in Malaysia.
Much like the KLEFF, the Sentinels of Time Photography Competition aims to showcase the environment for all its beauty and all the problems it faces. We feel that this is a great opportunity for people to highlight their surroundings and with a top prize of RM2,000 it’s also a great way to earn some cash!

Wanted: Food and Beverage Vendors
One of the main and most important logistics we need to take care of is keeping our KLEFF guests happy through snacks and beverages. Because the event lasts all weekend and draws people from all walks of life, plenty of culinary variety is needed!
Of course, being an environmental event, we’d love to get some organic or otherwise “green” food and beverage vendors involved. However, we know there are plenty of non-organic providers out there who would love to support an environmental cause and we welcome their sponsorship as well! All we ask is that packaging is kept to a minimum and that non-reusable items are recyclable.
If you’re keen to join our cause and get involved during festival weekend, be sure to sign up for F&B sponsorship today! Remember, you’re not just supporting a wonderful cause, you’re also putting your product in the hands of a large, diverse audience.
Langkawi Eco Film Festival (LEFF)
Plans for the inaugural Langkawi Eco Film Festival (LEFF) are well under way and we have a few updates to share with you!
As you know, the LEFF will take place in conjunction with the Langkawi International Arts Colony (LIAC) on 11th and 12th October, 2014. The LEFF team is excited to work with the LIAC on this project and is pleased to announce additional collaboration with local environmental organization Biji Biji!
The LEFF is also excited to announce that the films The Island President and Sand Wars will be the official selections of the 2014 LEFF. These films were selected because they deal with environmental matters unique to island life, which should be of particular interest to those living and staying on Langkawi Island.
The LEFF team will continue to provide you with important updates, but be on the lookout for our official LEFF website scheduled to be launched sometime this June!
