Hello friends!
We are cruising into the second quarter of the year, how time flies. April is again a significant month for many of us in our calendar, especially when suddenly there is an influx of enquiries and requests from various groups who wants to organise something in conjunction with Earth Day this month. I think this is a positive news, it shows that more and more people (including, and especially corporations) are more aware of the environmental issues and protection.
Despite the busy schedule this month we are keeping our momentum going to accelerate for KLEFF2017 with positive progress. One of our missions is to encourage more local contents especially from youth in Malaysia and this year we continue to partner with universities to make this happen. Additionally, we have confirmed one ASEAN higher institution as this year's partner, and we are ecstatic with this achievement! If you are representing an institute of higher education, there is still time to be part of University Partner for KLEFF2017.
Also, a gentle reminder to you that the Early Bird submission has ended and now we are entering the Normal Submission, please submit your important film to KLEFF2017 as we want to ensure that your film reaches out to our audience.
One more thing, we are looking for kind hearted and supportive individual of companies who wants to be part of this important agenda and are looking to make a difference, do not hesitate to ask our team for an appointment, we are more than happy to share our aspirations with you.
Lastly, to those who are taking part in the Earth Day initiative, wherever you are, remember that we are all together in this matter and know that we are meant to make a difference.
Yours Fabulously,
FABS

For this month’s newsletter, let’s go down memory lane and relive EcoKnights’ first ever Langkawi Eco Film Festival (LEFF) in 2014! The goal of this festival was to promote environmental awareness among the residence in Langkawi Island and for them to adopt and embrace sustainable living through a series of eco activities including film screening, workshops and exhibitions. In 2015, EcoKnights collaborated with Frangipani Langkawi to organise the Langkawi Eco Film Festival Season 2.
KLEFF is upon us and we are eager to celebrate sustainability with everyone. Annually, this festival welcomes various people from different background, not only to have fun but also to learn from workshops, forums, and films. If you are new to KLEFF and you have no idea what to do during the festival, no worries!
Here's a simple guideline with some fun trivia about our previous KLEFF!!
Now in its 10th year, the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival, produced by environmental NGO, EcoKnights features environment-themed documentary, feature, animated, archival, and experimental and children's films from around the world. KLEFF showcases ground breaking films, traversing the relationship between humans and their environments, challenging the way people think about the natural world and inspiring them to discuss, explore and act on important environmental issues. The films will be shown at various venues around Kuala Lumpur, including art spaces, cafes, universities, high schools, corporate officers and community theatres. Filmmakers and special guests will discuss their work at the festival. Most screenings are free to the public and include discussion with filmmakers or scientists on emerging environmental concerns and issues.
The Festival's signature programs include the Green Market, Film Making Workshops, the KLEFF Awards Night, Green Vibes and more. The Festival hosts a number of juried cash awards, as well as audience awards.
The KLEFF's official host venue is Publika Solaris. More information can be found at www.kleff.my.
