Hi Visitor,
Hello again from the Kuala Lumpur Eco-Film Festival!
Efforts to bring Malaysia’s largest environmental film festival back for a 7th year are well under way, and with new projects and events happening every day there’s plenty to update you on!
As a reminder, the 7th Annual KLEFF will be held at MAP Publika from October 17th – 19th 2014. For more information, log on to www.ecofilmfest.my
With some of the logistics out of the way, KLEFF staffers have been focused on community screenings and other promotional opportunities that help to spread the word about the contest and festival.
KLEFF representatives visited the Economic Planning Unit Headquarters in mid-March to share the film “Pandora’s Box” to the audience of ministry officials and other interested parties. The screening was followed by a thought provoking panel discussion regarding nuclear energy and its potential as a sustainable energy source.
The screening helped to promote an ongoing, realistic discussion about energy, which will be essential as Malaysia explores the domestic use of nuclear energy.
Remember that for any duration between one to two hours, KLEFF can bring these award-winning films right to your doorstep. Whether it’s in your office, college, or community, these films not only entertain, but also inform you of the pressing environmental issues that affect us all.
Schedule a community screening.
To further promote the festival and solicit entries from filmmakers around the world, KLEFF has commissioned Portuguese artist Mariana Baldaia to produce the 7th Annual KLEFF Call for Entries Poster.
Her final product - a majestic, colorful peacock grasping an unraveled roll of film in its beak - is a beautiful image that we feel represents the spirit and diversity of the KLEFF. We couldn’t be happier with the results!
As you know, the KLEFF is now accepting entries for documentaries, feature films, short films, public service announcements (PSA’s), and animations. Entries in each category stand the chance to win cash, awards, and other prizes if chosen by our panel of judges!

KLEFF representatives recently traveled to the Hong Kong Arts Festival to spread the word about our annual environmental event.
To help promote the festival, Honorary Advisor, Yasmin Rasyid, and Program Director, Fadly Bakhtiar set up a booth to screen films, inform the local public about the success and ambitions of the festival, and call for entries from international filmmakers. Through the event, KLEFF responded to inquiries from more than 100 visitors from various countries.
Heralded as Asia’s largest film market, the Hong Kong FILMART festival features over 380 screenings, thematic conferences, and a variety of events. By attending the festival we hope to utilize the friendships and connections made over the weekend to further promote the KLEFF and support the many causes it represents.
KLEFF was also recently represented at the Langkawi Live Music Festival where environmental short films were screened to a beachside audience. Between performance sets and leading up to Earth Hour, the audience was treated to not only the famous Langkawi sunsets, but also impactful, award winning films.
Presenting films such as “3R” and “Save Our Seafood (S.O.S.)", the aim of the collaboration was to promote the 7th Annual Kuala Lumpur Eco-Film Festival and spread awareness for the causes represented in the films.
The KLEFF film competition is now open for submissions and deadline for all submissions is 31st July 2014.
The 7th KLEFF will be held from 17-19th October 2014 at Publika Mall.
The KLEFF would not exist were it not for the help and support of our sponsors and partners. Fortunately, the Festival is able to repay such a debt through wonderful and far reaching advertising and branding opportunities!
Apart from the Festival itself, the KLEFF also offers many additional marketing opportunities throughout the year. From the KLEFF Programme Guide (25,000 copies) to our monthly e-newsletter (that goes out to 7,000 ++ names in our database) the KLEFF provides an abundance of arenas in which your brand can be advertised.
