Greetings from EcoKnights!

With the extreme heat that’s hitting the country, we sure hope that you are taking the right precautionary measures to ensure that you and your family stay healthy and hydrated. This heat spell is going to be a regular feature in our country, thanks to climate change and global warming. And let me share with you that this phenomenon is not just in Malaysia but is already making drastic impacts in other countries. Time to seriously relook at your daily actions and activities and it helps to make that difference, no matter as an individual or as a group. So to help you battle the heat wave, here’s a quick look at some useful tips to stay cool on a hot day.

Anugerah Hijau 2015 Launch

EcoKnights will also be launching the Anugerah Hijau 2015 nationwide competition for youths on March 30th 2015 at The Square, Publika Shopping Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. Head to the website for more details about the launch. If you’ve got the creative bug in you, Anugerah Hijau is the perfect platform for you to show them your green knowledge in three categories: music, inventions and architecture.

AVEDA Walk for Water 2015

Aveda and EcoKnights will also be in partnership this year for the third time in the annual AVEDA Walk for Water fundraising campaign. Funds raised from this campaign will support EcoKnights' Project H2O which is the provision of water filtration systems to 25 households of indigenous community (Seletar) in Kampung Pasir Putih, and a 6 month water awareness program for the beneficiaries. The aim is to raise RM15K through the participation fee from the walk (RM30 and redeemable for any AVEDA product of the same value), or through the purchase of the AVEDA wax candle for RM45 (at any AVEDA outlets), or through corporate sponsorship packages. Participants who sign up for the walk will be walking a total distance of 4 km to simulate the average distance a women living in a third world country has to travel to carry water home for their families. Earth Month celebrations in Publika

With the upcoming Earth Month celebrations in Publika, EcoKnights has some fun activities lined up on March 28th 2015. From the Green Market exhibition to free environmental film screenings, we even have a DIY Cider workshop organized for YOU. And on Earth Day which falls on April 22nd 2015, a forum and panel discussion called “Corporate Leadership: The Battle of the Big Ideas on Sustainability” will also be held from 9 am to 1 pm at the White Box, Publika. Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp – Northern Chapter

Lastly, the Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp – Northern Chapter (Pulau Langkawi) is now calling for applications. If you’re between the ages of 16 and 25, enthusiastic to be empowered and inspired to address environmental issues, well, this could be the right camp for you. Because this camp is going to be held in Kedah, the applications to the camp are only applicable to youths that are currently residing or studying in Kedah, Penang, Perlis or Perak. So do share news about this camp to your friends and family staying up North that are eligible for the camp. .
