The busiest month of the year for us has come and gone and we are thankful to all our supporters for coming out during the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) and be inspired and motivated to live greener through our programs and activities. In its 10th year, the KLEFF has been growing stronger from your support. So here’s a peek at the pictures we took last month at KLEFF.
Moving forward to planning for our 2018 programs and activities, we are currently embarking on a simple impact survey to capture information on how the organization is doing since we were born in 2005. It’s A Wrap for the 10th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) 2017!!The 10th KLEFF 2017 has successfully ended on the 29th October 2017 with a line of weekend activities for its visitors. The 7-day eco film festival was held at Publika Shopping Gallery, Solaris Dutamas with the theme ‘Call for Action’. It is the festival’s first time ever in its 10-year history to be held for a week. The first day of KLEFF 2017 kick-started with a river-themed film screening session featuring guest curator, Dr Ong Kian Ming who is a member of the Serdang KLEFF continued its hype with its first Sustainable Forum Series, Wajah Bumi Art Exhibition, thematic film screening, Green Market, workshops, Green Vibes performance and social media campaigns. The KLEFF 2017 committee would like to extend our greatest gratitude to our partners, film makers, judges, invited speakers, special guests, artists, performers, participating vendors, volunteers and last but not least, our visitors for the support and contribution towards KLEFF. Forum: Empowering Local Communities in Environmental & Natural Resources ManagementOn the 7th of November 2017, ERE Consulting Group convened an environment forum in association with EcoKnights and Malaysia Association of Social Impact Assessment. The forum titled “Empowering Local Communities in Environmental & Natural Resources Management”, venue at Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya involving professional environmental consultants, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and Government agencies. KLEFF on News – Astro VBuzz Interview with Fadly Bakhtiar and Rashvin Pal Singh on Youth Leadership in Sustainability Forum and Waste ManagementOn 10th October, in conjunction with the 10th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival, Fadly Bakhtiar (Festival Director) and Rashvin Pal Singh from Biji-Biji Initiative shared about #KLEFF2017 and the #Forum Series, the Youth Leadership in SDGs in which Rashvin was one of the speakers. Watch the interview now as they discussed the issue of waste management in Malaysia and KLEFF as a platform to raise environmental awareness. KLEFF on News – BFM Interview with Jon JandaiFounder of Pun Pun Center of Self Reliance, Jon Jandai had an interactive interview with Juliet Jacobs from BFM on October 30. Listen to the podcast where he shared his philosophy of living a simple life, and how that can benefit us and the environment too. Jon was part of KLEFF 2017 as he conducted a workshop on Culturing Effective Microbes and was one of the speakers for the Food for Future forum. EcoKnights Celebrated Hari Alam Sekitar Negara (National Environment Day) through Public Engagement on Environmental AwarenessOn the 21st of October 2017, EcoKnights was invited to open a booth at Pameran Hari Alam Sekitar Negara 2017 Peringkat Wilayah Persekutuan at the Panggung Aniversari, Perdana Botanical Garden, Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur to increase environmental awareness among the citizens of Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by the Minister of Wilayah Persekutuan, Datuk Seri Tengku Mansor. EcoKnights Attended a Pitching Workshop Conducted by DHL Asia-Pacific Information Services Sdn BhdOur EcoKnights interns had the pleasure of attending a pitching workshop conducted by our long-time logistical partner DHL at their IT services headquarters. This workshop was organized and staffed by DHL employees and was geared more towards public speaking, confidence and quick thinking as opposed to more traditional sales pitch techniques.
